Colorectal cancer is, unfortunately, one of the most common malignancies. In Western countries, it is even the second cancer by incidence among women and the third among men. But there are factors that decrease the risk of getting sick: in fact, many are unaware that this common drug could prevent colorectal cancer. Here is which medicine we are talking about.
It is mainly the elderly who fall ill with colorectal cancer. The disease, in fact, is rare under the age of 40, while it is more widespread between the ages of 60 and 75.
It is therefore necessary to adopt good habits in time that lower the risk of getting sick. Among these there is certainly avoiding smoking, fighting obesity and doing physical activity.
Good habits
Nutrition plays an important role: in fact, there are numerous studies showing that eating too much animal fats and proteins and too little fiber would increase the risk of intestinal cancer. Better, therefore, to abound with fruit and vegetables. For example, don’t miss out on a delicious autumn vegetable, which would also help lower cholesterol.
Screening programs are also useful, especially an exam to be done from the age of 45. Even recognizing the symptoms in time can lead to an early diagnosis: in particular, pay attention to an often overlooked alarm bell that can be the antechamber of two dangerous cancers.
These recommendations are valid for everyone, but especially for individuals at risk, that is, those who have relatives with colon cancer.
Finally, help can also come from a rather widespread medicine.

As reported by the AIRC, more than one study shows that there is a medicine that can reduce the risk of bowel cancer. In fact, people over 70 who take aspirinetta, or cardioaspirin every day, are less likely to get sick than their peers who do not take it.
However, there is an important clarification to be made: this is only valid if the treatment begins before the seventieth birthday.
This doesn’t mean everyone should start taking cardioaspirin just to prevent colon cancer. In fact, this drug is recommended for those at risk of cardiovascular disease, and has contraindications.
However, you can consult with your doctor to find out if you have a high probability of getting colon cancer, and if therefore it is appropriate to start treatment with cardioaspirin.
