Compared to the places to be announced, for Medicine and Surgery there is an increase of 948 places (+ 7.3%) from 13,072 last year to the current 14,020. Unlike Medicine, the training offer for Dentistry is almost stable, from 1,231 to 1,239 (+ 1.8%), while, on the contrary, it decreases by just -13 for Veterinary from 890 last year to 877. THE DECREES

28 JUNE – With the Decrees of last Friday 25 June, the Ministry of University established the training offer for the next AY 2021-22 on single-cycle degree courses in Medicine and Surgery with 14,020 places, Dentistry 1,253 and Veterinary 877 places. (Tab. 1).

In the premises of the three Decrees it is highlighted that these would be provisional posts, as the State-Regions Agreement is still pending for the determination of posts, an act which by law should be concluded by 30 April.
But the need for the Ministry of University to respect the 60-day deadline – which must precede the dates of the admission exams of September 3 – has led it to publish both the Decrees on the modalities of the admission exams and the places Universities can immediately include them in their respective calls.

Compared to the places to be announced, for Medicine and Surgery there is an increase of 948 places (+ 7.3%) from 13,072 last year to the current 14,020.
The increase for about 400 places also depends on the activation of new courses by some Southern Universities which also open their respective Faculties and Schools of Medicine and Surgery in the LUM Universities of Casamassima BA, Salento di Lecce, Basilicata di Potenza and Calabria di Makes Cosenza,
Unlike Medicine, the training offer for Dentistry is almost stable, from 1,231 to 1,239 (+ 1.8%), while, on the contrary, it decreases by just -13 for Veterinary from 890 last year to 877.

As regards the training needs on Medicine and Surgery (Tab. 2), the Regions increased from 11,740 last year to 14,332 (+ 22%) while the increase indicated by the Federation of Doctors FNOMCEO would be more contained, from 9,834 to 11,000, equal to + 10.6%.
For Dentistry, the Regions increased by 419 (+ 31%), from 1,312 last year to 1,722, while on the contrary the Order of Dentists CAO indicates less, 940, almost half.
For Veterinary the request of the Regions has increased from 852 to 1,007, + 17%, while the Order of Veterinarians FNOVI indicates 800.

Now, given that the Decrees are provisional, it could be deduced that for Medicine they could remain so as the offer of 14,020 is less than the 14,332 proposed by the Regions.
Ditto for Dentistry given that the demand of the Regions of 1,722 is higher than the supply of 1,253 of the Universities.
However, in both cases, it would be considered the minor proposal put forward by the Federation of Doctors FNOMCEO, for 11,000 places on Medicine and Surgery and 940 on Dentistry.
The situation for veterinarians could be less complicated, as the training offer of 877 is slightly higher than the 800 indicated by FNOVI and less than the 1,007 of the Regions.

In previous years, the MUR has always activated a specific technical table to facilitate an adequate sharing of decisions together with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Regions, the Professional Orders and the Conferences of the Degree Courses.
But for this year nothing is yet known about this procedure, which in these days is – casually and indirectly – recalled by the recent sentence of the Constitutional Court of 25 June which draws attention to art. 6-ter of the legislative decree 30 December 1992, n. 502, paragraph 1, which indicates to hear the interested parties.
