Feel free to look for her next victim.” A few lines of text, written in red, published at 8.36 on Monday morning, a story on Instagram, from the private profile (therefore not visible to those who are not followers) of Fiorina D’Avino, the daughter of Giovanna Pedretti, the 59-year-old restaurateur from Sant’Angelo Lodigiano who took her own life on Sunday evening after the case of the homophobic and anti-disabled review (which Google was asked to verify).
The girl, 28 years old, addressed Selvaggia Lucarelli directly, commenting on another post, which dates back to Sunday evening, where the blogger wrote: «The end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 teach only one very precise thing: social media is dangerous. Bad information is dangerous. Superficiality is dangerous. The distance between the altar and the dust is a nanosecond.”
Giovanna Pedretti’s daughter, Fiorina (photo), returned to social media a few hours later, around 11 am, denouncing, this time, the nagging presence of cameras outside their home: «We are besieged by journalists. Someone send them away.” An appeal probably addressed to the community of Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, which in the last few hours has decided to rally around the restaurateur’s family, closed in the immense pain of having lost a mother and a wife.
There is no space for comments or anything else from Giovanna’s husband, Nello, a pizza chef for over 30 years, who does not want to talk to anyone about everything that has happened in the last few hours. At least for now. Meanwhile, the entire Lodi community continues to cry and remember Giovanna. «It’s a huge pain – says an acquaintance of the restaurateur -. Giovanna has always been an important part of our community, making her energy and enthusiasm available to everyone. We hug our daughter Fiorina and her husband Nello. Now is the time for silence.” On Monday afternoon, a vigil will be held in the church of San Rocco, the neighborhood where the 59-year-old lived for many years.
