New Ford Ka 2023-2024, the return of the iconic city car continues to be talked about

For years, Ford Ka it was one of the most popular city cars in Italy. But the newest generation, called Ford Ka+, has undergone significant changes compared to previous generations of city cars, including the name. Despite the success, production was stopped. Now the first rumors are spreading about the development of the new Ford Ka 2023-2024. We assess the situation:

  • How Ford Ka 2023-2024 could look like

  • Thus Ford aims to relaunch itself on the market

How Ford Ka 2023-2024 could look like

The next Ford Ka 2023-2024 could offer more interior space thanks to a possible increase in size, positioning itself in the segment of versatile city cars. Despite this, the model would not be marketed as a low-cost car but as a car with an excellent price/performance ratio.

The car could retain its large glass area to ensure good visibility, but could adopt a crossover-like raised stance, following the recent market trends. The new Ka could be equipped with a hybrid or fully electric engine, in line with Ford’s know-how on alternative engines.

The previous model was available with two engines, a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCI, but the new version could adopt a hybrid or electric solution. The design of the car could be relatively simple, characterized by a lack of options such as GPS and a small screen. Despite being shorter in length than the Ford Fiesta, the new Ka should offer more interior space thanks to increased roof height.

Thus Ford aims to relaunch itself on the market

In this context of novelties and repechages, the awaited new Ford Explorer 2023 it is the first result of the technological and production collaboration between the US car manufacturer and Volkswagen. This SUV is based on the modular Meb platform, developed by Volkswagen, which has given rise to several model series, such as the Volkswagen ID series and the Audi Q4. Using this platform, Ford will be able to reduce the development time and cost of a large electric vehicle.

The production of the new Ford Explorer 2023 will take place at the Ford Cologne Electrification Center, a gigafactory built on the site of the old Ford factory in Germany, which will also be engaged in the production of next-generation batteries. The vehicle will be available in two trim levels, regular and Explorer Premium, and will go on sale from January 2023, with prices to be announced during the summer.

In 2024, a coupe crossover based on the Meb platform will also be launched alongside the new one Ford Puma produced in Romania, which could stand out for the right balance between quality and price. This is part of Ford’s sustainable development plan, which includes the conversion of other European plants and the phasing out of internal combustion models.
