Who are the winners
American David Julius, 66, was born in 1955 in New York and teaches at Columbia University, also in New York. 54-year-old Lebanese Ardem Patapoutian was born in 1967 in Beirut and studied and works in the United States. After studying at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and then at the University of California in San Francisco, since 2000 he has worked at the Californian Scripps Institute in La Jolla.
