«In less than two months from the equalization of the 2020 report, today, in August, we approved the budget for the next three years, well in advance of the regulatory forecasts. It is worth 16 billion. The budget items take into account the impact of the funds linked to the PNRR and, inevitably, the economic and financial choices are and will be concentrated towards the restart, to give the citizens and businesses of Veneto the necessary answers without uncertainties or bureaucratic delays. I believe this is synonymous with efficiency and effectiveness, the secret to being able to move huge financial resources in favor of the Venetians ».

With these words, the president of Veneto, Luca Zaia, announced at the end of the regional council at Palazzo Balbi, the new 2022-2024 regional budget. «A year and a half has passed since the beginning of the pandemic and the virus, unfortunately, has accustomed us to sudden changes in the scenario – continues the President -. In these 18 months we have addressed the situation by guaranteeing a public health plan capable of countering the spread of the Coronavirus and a vaccination campaign that today reaches almost 6 million doses. At the same time, the economic and financial choices have focused on supporting the regional health machine. Today, however, it is only right to think about restarting and the budget maneuver approved on Tuesday 17 August by the Giunta considers and makes operational the new scenarios, to trigger a virtuous revival of the economy and the territory of the Veneto, crucial for overcoming the negative effects of the pandemic. In a nutshell – explains the Governor – we have taken up the challenge of community planning by increasing the regional co-financing by 10 million euros which, therefore, goes from 65 million per year in the last 5 years to 75 million for the next three years – specifies Zaia – We confirm the ” important investment of 85 million to be allocated to sports facilities, protagonists of the next Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina 2026, as well as in terms of road infrastructures we have foreseen over 23.8 million per year until 2023, in addition to having reconfirmed the resources for viaduct safety (5 million euros) “. Also budgeted for 1 million and 600 thousand euros to finance the degree course in Medicine in Treviso.

«A special consideration too for the world of education, guaranteeing 31 million euros, for each year of the entire three-year period 2022-2024, in favor of equal schools – continues the president – Attention dedicated in particular to the world of universities, which sees enrollment starting from the estimated budget the allocation of 6.5 million euros for scholarships, together with the strengthening of the funding in favor of the ESU, to the extent of 2 million. A tangible demonstration of the administration’s commitment starting from January 1st, without resorting to adjustment maneuvers during the year. The principle also applies to vocational training, to which we allocate 29 million euros, an area that today represents an important intermediary for the world of work in terms of employment. Finally, the financial support to support the action of the regional instrumental bodies was increased: the regional funding for the ESUs was increased from 8 to 10 million euros – concludes Zaia -, but it is necessary to emphasize the support in support of Veneto Strade, as well as the resources allocated to Veneto Agriculture (700 thousand euros). The Foundations for Venice, the World Capital of Sustainability and for Cortina are also launched in view of the sporting events linked to the 2026 Olympics “
