Avezzano. The CISL FP Abruzzo Molise through the Secretary General Vincenzo Mennucci and the Provincial Health Coordinator of L’Aquila Marcello Ferretti announce “soon a mobilization of personnel if there are no responses to the dramatic working conditions to which health workers are subjected”.

“The pandemic situation is assuming worrying levels”, denounce the two trade unionists, “and after the various protests and requests presented, a decisive intervention can no longer be postponed (we need to do more and quickly) by the regional political level and strategic direction of the local company “.

From the union comes the dramatic confirmation that the Company alone cannot bear such pressure: “For too long we have been receiving the alarm cry that is valid as a request for help from the nurses, doctors, oss, technicians and auxiliaries), the union leaders affirm, “who denounce a sense of abandonment and frustration due to the persistence and worsening of the chaos that is registered above all in the emergency rooms of the various principals. By now, some emergency rooms have in fact been transformed into a sort of outpost where thrilling numbers are recorded, with peaks of about 100 visits a day and with an average stay of about three days waiting for a bed “.

The staff is on the verge of a nervous breakdown: “The loads are out of the question, the operators are forced to navigate the myriad requests of patients and their families. Biological damage and professional risks are around the corner, so much so that absences due to illness and / or contagion from Covid are taking over “.

The union leaders express great concern “for the repercussions that the serious emergency is having on the health personnel, as regards the balance and clarity that instead are fundamental assets”.

“It also highlights how the working conditions in which the workers of this company are subjected are unacceptable, starting with the precarious situation of the covid medicine of Avezzano, left with only 7 nurses and a few units of obs. This situation is aggravated by the numerous infections that have occurred and by the non-assignment of assigned personnel. Specifically, the aforementioned UOC is in dramatic conditions due to structural and logistical criticalities and the lack of the minimum safety requirements necessary to cope with a correct management of the covid patient. In this service the paths of cleanliness and dirt are not distinguished but above all of a filter area capable of guaranteeing both the safety of workers and the timely management of the patient. In addition, due to the expansion of the number of beds for Covid, the continuous subtraction of indispensable human resources in strategic departments with a consequent risk on the provision of assistance within 24 hours “.

The two trade unionists conclude: “We are also disconcerted by the news that reaches us regarding the shortage of medical devices and drugs that has been occurring for a few months within the ASL1, in fact we understand that even patient associations have already affected the Management through reports at various levels “.
