Losing weight, diet and health » Photo school, food photos, old glass and capital questions

by admin

A blogger recently wanted to tell me “How you can take really good photos with your smartphone” and embedded a ten-minute “podcast” into it – the sound was distorted, as if she had put the microphone in a bucket, but from the “ “Bird’s eye view” was mentioned right at the beginning, before I even turned off the food photography lesson.

In our history – “at that time” – lenses were produced that were certified by advertising as having the “eagle eye” property. I had a “Tessar” like this for about 10 years on a small SLR camera whose “West German mechanics” enabled this way of taking photographs but interrupted.
Working with such an old lens on a modern digital camera today is something special and, in principle, possible and can open up new perspectives. What you “get” out of a motif, an object, depends on a complex interplay between photographic technology, editing software and personal “creativity”.

The example shows that the “eagle eye” can also be “atmospheric” (here are the ingredients for a pasta plate with lamb fillet and asparagus),

… and the autofocus zoom lens, which is reviled by some purists, provides more “eagle vision” than expected.
In this situation, it might be helpful to point out that the homemade tagliatelle with whole grain content only comes into its own in the enlarged view.

With the Tessar you can also get quite close to the object; the green cabbage brings to mind food sharing and a long-term initiative in Mainz.

The bitter gourd was also included in the excursion to the “old glass” lens, which, however, does not particularly increase its chances of displacing new diabetes and obesity medications in doctors’ offices and pharmacies.

This is where major “capital issues” come to fruition:

Eli Lilly, the largest pharmaceutical company in the world, will soon be producing fat-reducing syringes in Germany. A billion-dollar investment that could produce horrendous costs for the healthcare system.

If all (morbidly) overweight people were treated with medication at an annual cost of 4,000 euros each (which corresponds to 333.33 euros per month), the “lifestyle therapy costs” could exceed the (health) insurance companies’ coffers.

Individually tailored diets along with qualified “lifestyle advice” would probably save costs and would therefore be free. You don’t have to do any studies, you just have to start.

In the larger image you can clearly see that the lens is focused at just under 40 cm, at aperture 11. The exposure time can be seen in the viewfinder. “Old” and newer technology are reasonably compatible and somewhat understandable.

In the pharmaceutical industry, old knowledge is no longer respected and refined, people are taking “new paths” and do not know today which “side effects” will have which effects in 20 years. The “how” and “why” of nutrition, the psychosocial mix and its consequences, significantly determine appetite. Where life has lost its balance, the body can get out of control.

Pharmacologically, the appetite, which is sometimes pharmacologically based, is now supposed to be kept in check with “chemistry”. With-work of patients is eliminated, they are kept away from opportunities for new experiences and isolated.
Whetting your appetite for new things, arousing your curiosity about things off the beaten track – this can only be done through trial and error or “trying”, and actually only in a networked way.

At the same time, detours that will never lead to the destination must be avoided, so reliable pilots or mountain guides are needed or at least cartography and route planning are taught responsibly.
