Open Fiber ultra-fast network is operating in Bagheria

by admin

TIM has launched an innovative cabling plan in Bagheria which, with an estimated investment of around 3 million euros, brings optical fiber to homes to make ultra-fast connections up to 1 Gigabit / s available. The Sicilian city, in fact, has been included in the national coverage program of FiberCop, the new company of the TIM Group which aims to create the secondary fiber optic access network in the black and gray areas of the country to develop FTTH solutions ( Fiber To The Home) according to the open co-investment model envisaged by the new European Code of Electronic Communications.

The interventions for the construction of the new network have already begun in many areas of the city, in order to make the services progressively available, with the aim of connecting about 15,000 real estate units at the end of the plan.

Where possible, existing infrastructures will be used to lay the optical fiber. If it is necessary to carry out excavations, these will be carried out by adopting innovative techniques with low environmental impact, with interventions on the roadway of about 10-15 centimeters. TIM will work to limit the inconvenience to citizens and proceed swiftly with the construction of the new network.

Thanks to this plan, Bagheria will be equipped with an even more performing fiber optic network than the one that is already available to citizens and businesses today thanks to FTTCab technology, which makes connections up to 200 megabits available for 17,500 real estate units, equal to 95 % of the lines of the municipality.

“Bagheria is part of a path of excellence that sees TIM engaged throughout the national territory in creating an entirely fiber network capable of delivering ever greater volumes of traffic with a very high quality – declares Mariano Campo, Head of Sicily West Field Operations Line of TIM – This is an ambitious project, the result of the huge investments made by TIM in Bagheria, which aims to bring innovation to the territory and boost the spread of digital services aimed at supporting companies in the development of their business. and to improve the quality of life of citizens, thus contributing to the growth of the local economy “.
