“Professor Plebani was, is and will still be a pillar of Venetian medicine, a national and international reference point, thanks to a great job carried out throughout his career, but also thanks to the immense, exhausting work carried out alongside the Region in the fight against the pandemic, in the context of which it is enough to recall the improvement and application of the use of salivary swabs in the university environment “.
Thus, the President of the Veneto Region comments on the retirement of Professor Mario Plebani, Moreover Director of the Intercompany Department of Laboratory Medicine and Integrated Diagnostics of Padua.
71 years old, originally from Schio, Professor Plebani graduated in Medicine and Surgery, with specialization in Clinical Laboratory Analysis and in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the University of Padua, he was full professor of “Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology ”At the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Padua. He was director of the Biomedical Research Center of the Veneto Region and President of the School of Medicine of the University of Padua.
“I take this opportunity – continues Zaia – to renew the invitation to review the retirement mechanisms of doctors in our country. It is right that opportunities are given to young people, but it is also true that Plebani himself would be the best teacher for these young people, because he has and will still have many things to say and teach. In this regard – concludes the President of the Region – it is nice to know that, pending a revision of the pension mechanisms, Plebani continues to work voluntarily and free of charge, not depriving us of his knowledge, his science and his skills ”.
