Chocolate cake withdrawn from the shelves due to microbiological risk: this is the Bet Kosher Sas cake, which was recalled because it was deemed “not compliant with food safety requirements” for “possible presence of salmonella “. The recall was ordered by the Ministry of Health on 23 May. The products in question are sold in packs of 380 grams.
The provision affects all lots produced before 04/29/2022, with the relative minimum conservation terms. The recalled cakes were produced by the Strauss-Elite company in Israel and marketed in Italy by Bet Kosher Sas di Alberto Terracina, Rome. The company recommends, as a precaution, not to consume the cakes that are part of the batches produced before the date indicated. At the beginning of May, among other things, again due to the possible presence of salmonella, they were also recalled as a precaution chocolate covered crackers and chocolate chip cookies with the Elite brand, belonging to all lots produced before 04/29/2022.
What are the risks with salmonella? It is a pathogen that can contaminate eggs and also tools or other foods by contact. In most cases, however, salmonellosis is an infection that clears up within days. During the most acute phase of salmonella infection it is advisable to drink plenty of water at room temperature and eat “white”, therefore unseasoned foods.
