“Save your skin”, free dermatological visits to the Polyclinic

MESSINA – A prevention campaign to protect the skin. Saturday 20 May from 9 to 13 the Dermatology of the hospital “G. Martino” adheres to the “Save your skin” initiative, promoted by SIDeMaST (Italian Society of Medical, Surgical, Aesthetic Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases) and aimed at making the population aware of the risks that uncontrolled sun exposure entails. On this occasion, at the UOC of dermatology of the Aou G. Martino (pad. H, 4th floor), directed by professor Fabrizio Guarneri, it will be possible to make free visits and receive useful information.

THE TARGET

The goal is to focus attention on melanoma and other skin cancers, pathologies of considerable and unfortunately growing frequency, in many cases also of significant clinical severity. To make the visit it will be necessary to book by calling the dedicated toll-free number 800.99.11.26 (operating from 15 to 26 May from 8.30 to 19.30, including holidays). The incidence of skin tumors – explains Prof. Guarneri – could be greatly reduced with the adoption of a few simple preventive precautionary measures; already regular self-observation and periodic specialist checks would allow intervening on any injuries in the early stages, characterized by better prognoses and high healing rates.
