“Star Bene” Program Sheds Light on Skin Cancer
Tonight, the Telelibertà program “Star Bene” is set to address the important topic of skin cancers, putting a spotlight on the prevention and treatment of these potentially deadly diseases. Hosted by journalist Marzia Foletti, the program will feature guests such as Massimo Gasperini, head of Dermatology at Piacenza Hospital, patient Luigi Colla, and oncologist Luigi Cavanna.
The episode will delve into the dangers of sun exposure, as ultraviolet rays are the primary cause of skin tumors. Prevention, especially in children, will be emphasized as crucial in combating the incidence of skin cancers. Statistics reveal that one in three Italians will experience basal cell carcinoma in their lifetime, with 64 thousand new cases recorded annually in the country. In addition, the incidence of squamous cell skin cancer has more than doubled in Italy over the last 20 years, with 19 thousand diagnoses each year.
Prior to the episode, the program will also feature its regular column “Feeling Good at the Table,” which will focus on Piacenza wines with Sofia Serafino of Coldiretti at the Covered Market in via Farnesiana. The column is promoted by Coldiretti and will be edited by Alessandra Lucchini, communications manager of the association.
Tune in tonight at 9pm to “Star Bene” for an insightful and informative discussion on skin cancers and the importance of prevention.
