Snami and Smi warn the Region: “We will desert the regional meetings if the emergency of territorial medicine is not addressed first of all”

by Andrew Salvalaggio

The two unions write to the general manager of the health and social area, Luciano Flor. The reason for the decision to desert the meetings is clear: “There are emergencies of staff and growing infections and no one accepts our requests. They even call us for trivial things such as the distribution on the telematic activity of medical accident certificates and occupational disease. ”THE LETTER

15 LUG – The discussions on territorial medicine between the representatives of general practitioners and the Veneto Region do not subside. This time the Snami and Smi unions sent a letter to the general manager of the health and social area, Lucian Flower, warning to be ready to raise the wall if the local health emergencies are not addressed.

The letter was sent on the occasion of the convocation, scheduled two days ago, for the distribution of the funds transferred from Inail to the national health fund for the compilation and transmission, electronically, of medical certificates of accidents and occupational diseases, by doctors and health facilities. For Snami and Smi Veneto, the call of 13 July on such a “banal” topic was read as “a mockery of the particular moment that local medicine is going through”. The trade unions therefore decided not to come to the meeting, even warning that from now on they will not go to any meeting with the Veneto Region unless a discussion table is opened on a planning on territorial medicine.

“We wrote to the general manager of the health and social area of Veneto, Luciano Flor, telling him that we did not intend to participate in meetings that were not aimed at serious health planning “, so Liliana Lora, of the SMI, e Salvatore Cauchiof Snami, thus justified their disappointment at the meeting of the regional table of regional secretaries of general medicine scheduled for 13 July.

What we want to emphasize to the two unions, instead, it is that there is total inattention to the requests that family doctors make every day and that it is generating a vulnus in the relationship with the public part also in light of the new criticalities of the last few days. The public part, in fact, does not organize – according to the unions – the activities in contrast to the pandemic emergency and of operators in support of the sick, leaving the support structures for the new wave of Covid in recent months unguarded, putting the Ulss provincials in conditions of not being able to have a precise central direction in contrast to the moment of health emergency; even Snami and SMI of the Veneto state that, in the field of territorial medicine, the lack of a Region that directs the Ukss on who does what, means that they are not facing the increasingly growing emergency of Covid infected or that, if they are facing, they do it in an uncoordinated and dissimilar way.

“The whole problem of staff shortages and increasing infections continues once again to be unloaded on general practitioners, afflicted by a large amount of work, and on emergency rooms, among other things already in staff and contracted to institutions external. For this reason, Smi and Snami do not intend to participate in any meeting that does not have the objective of serious programming on staff shortages and a control room on ULSS in reference to local medicine ”, conclude Liliana Lora and Salvatore Cauchi.
