Families have been enormously challenged in recent years. Especially during the pandemic, tried and tested everyday structures have broken down, and in view of the diverse current crises and their consequences, many children, young people and parents are under great strain. So that these families can recharge their batteries, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration, the local association for youth and social affairs and non-profit institutions in Baden-Württemberg have jointly launched the “STÄRKER nach Corona” program. Families can use the program for educational leisure time, for which the state will provide around 700,000 euros in 2024.
“Family recreation enables families to share positive experiences, strengthens their cohesion and makes their everyday lives easier, even under difficult conditions,” said Social and Health Minister Manne Lucha on Friday (February 9) in Stuttgart. “I am pleased that we can once again financially support educational camps from the state this year.”
Help for families who have a particularly difficult time in everyday life
The state program “STÄRKER nach Corona” focuses specifically on offers for families who have to achieve a particularly high level in their everyday lives, such as families with children who have a disability, in which a parent has died or in which a family member has a mental illness . In total, around 30 leisure activities funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg will take place in 2024 for these target groups, which will be financed in addition to the state’s proven STÄRKE program.
“Families should recover. We also want to support them in becoming aware of their strengths, getting to know other families with similar problems and preparing themselves well for their difficult everyday lives. “I am particularly pleased that the Lebensweg family hostel can once again offer families with severely disabled children in need of care this year,” said Minister Lucha.
