The majority of MIR candidates surveyed consider that the controversial question 84 of the 2024 test should not be challenged, according to a survey conducted by Medical Writing exclusively for its premium readers. 72 percent of those surveyed reject the invalidation, with 41 percent stating that it should not be eliminated from the test because it is an appropriate question, and 31 percent believing that the challenge penalizes the applicant.
The question in question presented the case of a doctor who accumulates delays in his consultation and related it to a personality disorder. This example has caused a great stir in the health sector and has been criticized by family doctors, as well as the rest of the doctors and the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health has “regretted” the question and asked for its removal from the response template to be considered.
Scientific societies, such as the Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians, have also strongly condemned the example, expressing their discomfort at the lack of respect towards professionals. José Polo, president of the organization, has requested that responsibilities are cleared to prevent such a case from happening again.
