From mobility to agriculture, from healthcare to industry to housing: sustainability is the only way to restart and build a better future, and it permeates all sectors.
In Italy there are already those who argue that sustainability will be the new luxury of the future. To achieve this, the digital revolution plays a key role. Furthermore, it brings opportunities for economic and social growth.
This is what emerged from the institutional table on the ecological transition that took place in the context of the ninth edition of WMF, the largest Italian festival on digital and social innovation that was held from 15 to 17 July at the Palacongressi in Rimini. Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, who spoke at the inauguration of the works of WMF – We Make Future, said: “We must invest in AI, smart cities, fintech, cybersecurity. Innovation and digital at the center of our vision for the Europe of tomorrow “.
In the three days in Rimini, conceived by the CEO of Search On Media Group Cosmano Lombardo, a 360 ° vision of the sustainable future was staged. It involved the participation of various institutional voices in the rich program of working tables and panels. It was thus possible to analyze and understand the dynamics of the guidelines of the national action plan in the context of the Next Generation EU and the missions of the PNRR. The ecological transition, with reference to sustainable mobility and sharing economy models, was therefore the theme on which the first day of WMF 2021 focused, hosting the institutional and academic work table in which Enrico Giovannini also took part. .
The Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility thus reiterated that: “Innovations pass through doing: in the way we work, we move, we go on vacation. The change that the PNRR is imposing on our country is a profound change ”.
The whole of society can contribute to this transformation: this is the opinion shared by the Vice Rector of the University of Pisa Marco Raugi in his speech at the round table. He then underlined the importance of the communicative aspect and the mix of technology, economy and social habits to allow citizens to “learn to change their habits with awareness and in a sustainable way”. In the field of sustainable mobility, the president of Assosharing Matteo Tanzilli therefore reiterated how much the new mobility services, like any innovation, must be taken by the hand and regulated. Giulio Lo Iacono, ASviS operational coordinator, also spoke of the need for common actions, in line with European guidelines.
The intervention of the President of the Senate Industry Commission Gianni Pietro Girotto was then used to recall, among other things, social and cultural factors: “the fossil fuel supply chain – he declared – does not pay for the negative externalities it produces. The great majority of people do not know that we pay millions of euros each year in direct and indirect subsidies to fossil fuels, more than renewables ”. Among the appointments on the agenda at the Festival there is also a meeting with Patrizio Bianchi, Minister of Education of the University and Research, who spoke on the role of innovation, digitization and training in terms of sustainability.
