Tax-free children’s bonus and 1,000 euro fringe benefit for everyone, the hypothesis on the news in the Labor Law for employees without children

The tax exemption limit for i fringe benefit it could rise to 1,000 euros for everyone, with the addition of a tax-free “child bonus” of 660 euros for a maximum of three children. This is one of the hypotheses that the Meloni government is thinking about to modify the Labor Law. The provision, approved by CDM last May 1st, raised the ceiling of tax-free compensation that the company can distribute to its employees from 258 euros to 3 thousand euros, but only for workers with children. The change that the executive led by Giorgia Meloni is allegedly considering would make it possible to expand the number of beneficiaries, but what would be the necessary coverage, probably around 250 million euros, is being evaluated. THE fringe benefit are all those economic contributions assigned by companies to employees in forms other than money, which however appear in the pay slip. The tax reduction introduced by the Meloni government with the Labor Decree has a temporary duration, even if in recent days it was the premier herself who revealed that she was working to make the new limits definitive: «We want to make the issue of fringe benefits and the tax reduction of employer’s contribution for workers to whom a child is born’.

Smartworking changes

Among the other possible changes to the Work Decree there is also the issue of smartworking, which expires at the end of June. In this case, the hypothesis that the executive might be thinking about is an extension only for fragile workers, and not also for parents with children under 14. “We are no longer in a pandemic, so I don’t think there is any more urgent need to intervene on parents with children under 14. I hope instead that there will continue to be the right attention towards the frail”, explained the Minister of Public Administration Paolo Zangrillo in an interview with Messenger. The work in the Senate Social Affairs Committee continues, with the aim of closing this week. The text is expected in the classroom at Palazzo Madama between Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 June.
