The app for the checks on the Green Pass: how to get VerifiedC19, how it works, what are the fines

by admin

From 6 August the so-called Green Certificate it becomes mandatory also in Italy for access to some indoor commercial activities (such as restaurants, museums, theaters, cinemas and so on) and checks are also triggered on the same day.

How the verification app works
The checks will be carried out through the app Verification C19 (here the links to download it for iOS and Android), developed by the Ministry of Health through Sogei: it allows you to read the Qr Code of the Green Pass and shows its actual authenticity and validity, together with name, surname and date of birth of the holder.

The verification process is divided into 3 phases:

  • the verifier requests the Certification from the interested party, who shows it in digital (through the Immuni or IO apps or even just as a photo) or paper;

  • the app reads the QR Code, extracts the information and proceeds with the authenticity check by verifying the digital signature;

  • at the end of the process, the app graphically shows the verifier theauthenticity e validity of the Certification.

Eventually, the verifier may request an identity document from the controlled person to verify the correspondence of the personal data present in the document with those displayed by the app; all sensitive data contained in the Green Pass are not stored by the VerificationC19 app out of respect for privacy.

Who will do the checks
The app can only be used by so-called verifiers, i.e. by who “is in charge of controlling Covid-19 Green Certifications”, which are the people who “provide services for which the possession of the Green Pass is required” and “the organizers of events and activities to participate in which the possession of the same certification is required”. Put simply, for example: if you want to dine indoors in a restaurant, it will be the restaurant staff to be able (and must) check the Green Pass. Obviously, these checks can also be done by the police.

How to get the Green Pass
The Green Pass can be obtained 15 days after the first dose of vaccine (in this case it is valid until the second), after the second dose of vaccine (remains valid for 9 months), with the certificate of recovery from Covid-19 (remains valid for 6 months) or even with the negative result of a swab carried out in the previous 48 hours. The procedure provides that when the QR Code combined with the Green Pass is ready, the person receives a code via email or text message to download it: it must be entered, together with the health card data, on the Immuni app (in which it will be stored ) or on this page, from where you can possibly print.
What Happens in the Event of Violations
The fines for those who do not comply with the obligation to have (and verify) the Green Pass go from 400 to 1000 euros and are for both the merchant and the customer; moreover, if the violation is repeated 3 times in 3 different days, the commercial operation risks the closing from 1 to 10 days.

To whom the Green Pass is not required and where it is not needed
At the moment the Green Certification is not required for who is under 12 years old, who can enter anywhere, also because for now this age group is excluded from vaccinations; in the text of the decree it is in fact clarified that the obligations on the Green Pass “do not apply to subjects excluded by age from the vaccination campaign”. In addition, exclusion also for “exempt subjects on the basis of suitable medical certification issued according to the criteria defined in the circular of the Ministry of Health“: who cannot be vaccinated he is therefore not obliged to show the Green Pass.

At the moment, the document not needed in stores (all, including supermarkets and pharmacies) and not even in outdoor restaurants and bars (in bars, not even at the counter) and to get on trains, buses, trams and subways.
