The Bissuola now has its own outdoor fitness area. The Olympian Cassina at the inauguration

A real outdoor gym, equipped with eleven professional equipment with anti-trauma flooring installed and made available to citizens at the Albanese Park in Mestre. The new outdoor area created at Bissuola with Pon Metro 2014-2020 funds was inaugurated today afternoon, Thursday 24 June, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Sport Andrea Tomaello, with the participation, as a guest, of the former gymnast and Olympic champion at the bar Igor Cassina.

The new fitness area was financed entirely with European funds for an investment of 46,421 euros, with the aim of promoting outdoor sport safely and respecting social distancing, as required by the emergency period. The equipment and routes are dedicated to different needs, with particular attention to fragile subjects such as the elderly and people with disabilities. In detail, these are 8 facilities for complete training for adults, from total body to cardio to body building; two tools dedicated to outdoor fitness for the disabled and a compound type tool intended for a free body circuit.

«We believe that even sport – said Tomaello – is necessary for the restart and that it is fundamental for a city like Venice and especially for younger children and for the elderly who have suffered most from the consequences of the pandemic. Our goal is to replicate the installation of these structures for outdoor sports also in other green areas of the city ». Cassina echoed him: “Sport – stressed Cassina – is a fundamental educational tool for becoming champions in life”.
