Do you prefer Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or Firefox on the desktop? According to the latest survey data from website traffic analysis tool StatCounter, Safari, which had the second largest market share, is likely to be overtaken by Microsoft Edge in the near future, and Microsoft Edge is expected to become the second most popular browser.
The most popular browser in the desktop market is Google Chrome, with a market share of 65.38%; Microsoft Edge currently has a market share of 9.54% in the desktop browser market, closely following Safari’s 9.84%.

Microsoft Edge is expected to surpass Safari in the global desktop browser market share, but it may not be so optimistic in the North American market, because currently in the North American desktop browser market, Safari has a market share of 16.87%, while Microsoft Edge is Only 11.93%, if Microsoft Edge wants to catch up with Safari, it may have to work harder.
However, in the European and Asian desktop browser markets, Microsoft Edge has surpassed Safari with a market share of 10.9% and 7.46% respectively; Safari has a market share of 9.95% in the European market and only 5.41% in Asia.
If we look at the mobile device browser market, since Safari is the default browser for devices such as iPhone and iPad, Safari has a market share of 26.71% in the global mobile device browser market; while Chrome is the overall mobile device browser market. (including iOS and Android devices) with a market share of 62.06%.

So what about Microsoft Edge’s market share on mobile devices? Although Microsoft Edge has more than 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store and has a 4.6-star rating on Apple’s App Store, it may not be used much enough to be included in the market share rankings by StatCounter.
