Food alert for contaminated tuna: here are the details

A new food alert which concerns a batch of fish was launched a few hours ago since Ministry of Health. The report was widespread due to the presence of a serious chemical risk. The alert in question concerns a “Yellow fin tuna steak thawed with added water”. It is a product sold under vacuum and with variable weight. The lot in question is the number 20082117/21 expiring 07/06/21 and is produced by ITTICA ZU PIETRO SRL (manufacturer code IT 2830 CE). Why was the batch of tuna withdrawn?

The alert issued by the Ministry of Health concerns the so-called “anoxic syndrome“. A very serious disorder that causes very characteristic symptoms such as redness of the skin, burning of the mouth, diarrhea, stomach pains, palpitations and throbbing headache. In more serious cases, a serious disorder such as loss of vision may also be highlighted. Symptoms usually appear within 10-30 minutes after consuming the contaminated product.

The other ailments

Among the physical ailments affecting the tuna withdrawn from the Ministry are diffuse pallor, tachycardia, dyspnoea and hypotension or hypertension and erythema. Symptoms are even more serious in people with asthma who may experience wheezing, breathing problems and bronchospasm. These complaints can occur as early as a few minutes after ingesting the fish and up to two hours later.
