The new Apple Watch commercial is a matter of life and death (and causes debate)

by admin

911 is the number that people in the United States call in an emergency. Apple used clips of three calls, from as many people in serious trouble, to highlight how the smartwatch it produces could save lives. The ‘Sos’ function of the Apple Watch allows, by long pressing the button on the side of the body, to contact the emergency number. But the most important automatism is triggered when the watch detects an important fall of the wearer: at that point an alarm is triggered which, if not deactivated within a few seconds, triggers an automatic emergency call to the contacts selected by the user. .

Apple’s idea for the ad for the new Watch 7 is brilliant from a marketing standpoint, but for some the subliminal message – buy a watch not to die – is too pushy. Not to mention that many smartphones are also able to make emergency calls without having to type a number on the keyboard. And that to call 911 directly from your wrist, if there is no iPhone nearby or a Wi-Fi network to connect to, you need the Apple Watch model with eSim, at a slightly higher price.
