THE OFFENDER WITH PSYCHIC DISORDERS. SATURDAY 13 APRIL IN CONA THE CONFERENCE OF THE MEDICAL SURGICAL SOCIETY

On Saturday 13 April 2024, the scientific conference will take place from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm in the Aula Magna of the Cona hospital. “The offender with mental disorders: between jurisdictional intervention and treatment”.

The conference, promoted by Medical Surgical Society of Ferrara in collaboration with the Training and Processes Operational Unit of the Integrated Teaching of the Health Authorities of Ferrara, sees the patronage of the University of Ferrara and Bari, of the “Maul Psychiatry and Forense Psychology” Network, of the Italian Society of Forensic Psychiatry ( SIPRiFo), of the Italian Society for Psychotherapy and Forensic Rehabilitation and finally of the Italian Society of Forensic Medicine and Insurance

The idea of the conference – proposed by prof. Felice Carabellese, President of SIPRiFo, Professor of Forensic Psychopathology in the School of Medicine and Legal Medicine in the School of Law of the University of Bari Aldo Moro – starts from the observation of some critical issues in the treatment of patients with mental disorders, perpetrators of crimes with profiles of social psychiatric danger; these critical issues are evident, despite the closure of the Judicial Psychiatric Hospitals with law 81/2014 and the opening of the Residences for the Execution of Security Measures (REMS).

The resulting scenario, according to Prof. Margherita Neri (Professor of Forensic Medicine at the University of Ferrara and Director of the Forensic Medicine AUSL of Ferrara and scientific director of the conference with Prof. Carabellese together with other professionals) is extremely complex. The fundamental objective of the conference is therefore to bring together knowledge, skills, needs and languages, distant from each other, which must necessarily collaborate with operationally comprehensible and effective methods, for the purpose of the rehabilitative recovery of offender patients with mental problems.
