The Surprising Science Behind Spa Treatments: How Natura Bissé Proves the Power of Self-Care

A recent study conducted by Natura Bissé in collaboration with the University of Murcia and Starlab has shed light on the benefits of beauty treatments beyond just improving skin appearance and relaxation. The study, which involved a detailed analysis of the effects of spa rituals on well-being and self-esteem, found that participating in activities such as facial massages in the cabin can significantly reduce stress levels.

The research, which included a sample of 33 volunteers between the ages of 25 and 60, recorded biomarkers and subjective surveys before and after receiving a Natura Bissé signature treatment. The results showed a 67% increase in well-being and self-esteem levels, as well as a correlation between higher levels of salivary oxytocin and lower perceived stress.

The findings of the study were presented at the Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine hotel, where the Serenity & Vitality Ritual treatment is offered. The study involved more than 500 hours of work, with measurements taken using enobium caps with electrodes to analyze the effects of manual contact on the nervous system.

According to Laura Gamboa, corporate training director at Natura Bissé, the study revealed that manual massage led to peaks of pleasure and increased levels of self-acceptance among participants. In addition to the physical benefits of beauty treatments, such as exfoliation and hydration, the study emphasized the emotional benefits of self-care through activities like facial protocols.

The study also highlighted the importance of touch in reducing stress and promoting relaxation, with regular massages shown to decrease pro-inflammatory cytokines and calm the nervous system. The findings support the concept of integrative beauty, which emphasizes holistic approaches to well-being including nutrition, physical activity, and social interaction.

Overall, the study provides scientific evidence to support the use of beauty treatments as a tool for combating stress and promoting overall well-being. As society continues to face high levels of stress and fast-paced lifestyles, activities like facial massages and spa rituals offer a valuable escape and opportunity for relaxation.
