Hochdorf, Germany – 33 years ago, Peter Kopf laid the foundation stone of medica Medizintechnik GmbH and has since led the company’s fortunes as managing director. Together with Otto Höbel, the technical director, he developed the family business under the THERA-Trainer brand into one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of robotics-supported therapy devices and software solutions for all phases of neurological and geriatric rehabilitation.

With around 150 employees at 5 locations, THERA-Trainer is now represented in over 70 countries. “At home in Hochdorf, at home in the world,” says Peter Kopf, describing the journey from his Upper Swabian roots to becoming a global hidden champion.

As of December 31, 2023, Peter Kopf left as Managing Director of medica Medizintechnik GmbH and went into planned (un)retirement. The family business is continued by his son, Dr. Jonathan Kopf, who moved from strategy consulting to management at THERA-Trainer in 2020. This means the baton is successfully passed on within the family.

THERA-Trainer remains an innovative, value-oriented, self-financed family business. With over 100,000 systems installed worldwide, THERA-Trainer brings movement back to millions of patients, true to the vision LIFE IN MOTION, for a life in motion – and there are more every day.
