Two Friends Save a Life with Quick Thinking and Training

Stefano Vitali, 44, and William Lamera, 24, are being hailed as heroes after their quick thinking and training saved the life of a 45-year-old friend from the Cividate Oratory football team. The incident occurred at the Cividate Sports Center on Saturday, where the 45-year-old fell ill in the locker room after a football match.

Vitali, who is an assistant coach of the team, and Lamera, who was in charge of the Automatic Defibrillator (AED) owned by the football club, immediately sprang into action when they saw their friend in distress. Thanks to the first aid training they had received a year ago, they were able to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack and provide the necessary assistance.

Despite the challenges they faced, such as not being able to put the defibrillator on their friend because he was wet, the two friends remained calm and focused on saving his life. Vitali started the cardiac massage while Lamera ran to get the AED. Thanks to their efforts, the 45-year-old’s life was saved, and he is currently recovering in the intensive care unit at the Civil Hospitals of Brescia.

Both Vitali and Lamera were praised by the 112 rescuers who arrived at the scene, acknowledging that their quick actions were crucial in saving their friend’s life. Vitali emphasized that the most important thing now is for their friend to recover as soon as possible.

This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the importance of being prepared for emergencies and having the necessary skills to save a life when it matters most.
