Beer cake recipe
Who could resist a delicious chocolate cake? In our Guinness chocolate cake there is a good shot of beer in both the dough and the icing and that is what makes it so juicy and delicious. Whether for the next barbecue evening or as a special Father’s Day cake – our beer cake recipe is always a winner and tastes irresistibly good for every occasion!
Ingredients
Dough:
- 280 grams of wheat flour
- 250 Gramm Butter
- 370 grams of granulated sugar
- 70 grams of cocoa powder
- 250 ml Guinness beer or another dark beer of your choice
- 2 Owner
- 150 grams fresh cream
- 1 TL Backpulver
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
Glaze:
- 50 ml Guinness Bier
- 200 Gramm Butter
- 200 grams of dark chocolate
preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a 23 cm springform pan with baking paper. Alternatively, you can bake the beer cake in a baking tray.
- Pour beer into a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Put the butter in the saucepan and melt while stirring. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
- Pour the beer mixture into a large bowl and add the sugar and cocoa powder.
- Mix with the hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until you get a homogeneous mass.
- Next, fold in the crème fraîche and eggs one at a time and mix well.
- Whisk together the vanilla sugar, wheat flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and gradually add to the beer mixture.
- Mix with the whisk to a smooth batter and pour into the springform pan.
- Bake the dough for about 55-60 minutes and test with a chopstick in between.
- Let the beer cake cool down completely for an hour and carefully remove it from the springform pan.
- For the beer glaze, melt the chocolate, butter, and beer in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Again, be careful not to let the mixture boil.
- Allow the glaze to cool slightly for about 10 minutes and spread it over the cake.
- For a fine salty kick, you can decorate the Guinness cake with pretzels.
