  • 70 grams of cocoa powder
  • 250 ml Guinness beer or another dark beer of your choice

  • 150 grams fresh cream
  • 1 TL Backpulver
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar

Glaze:

  • 50 ml Guinness Bier
  • 200 Gramm Butter
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate

preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a 23 cm springform pan with baking paper. Alternatively, you can bake the beer cake in a baking tray.
  • Pour beer into a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes.
  • Put the butter in the saucepan and melt while stirring. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
  • Pour the beer mixture into a large bowl and add the sugar and cocoa powder.
  • Mix with the hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until you get a homogeneous mass.
  • Next, fold in the crème fraîche and eggs one at a time and mix well.
  • Whisk together the vanilla sugar, wheat flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and gradually add to the beer mixture.
  • Mix with the whisk to a smooth batter and pour into the springform pan.
  • Bake the dough for about 55-60 minutes and test with a chopstick in between.
  • Let the beer cake cool down completely for an hour and carefully remove it from the springform pan.
  • For the beer glaze, melt the chocolate, butter, and beer in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Again, be careful not to let the mixture boil.
  • Allow the glaze to cool slightly for about 10 minutes and spread it over the cake.
  • For a fine salty kick, you can decorate the Guinness cake with pretzels.
  • And voilà – our beer cake recipe is that easy!
