Changes in eating habits

Two strategies bring real success: eat right and exercise more. If you consume fewer calories than your body needs, you will lose weight. But nobody gets slim just by counting calories. What is more important is where the calories come from: avoid fatty and sugary foods, soft drinks and fast food and prepare food as freshly as possible. In order to initiate changes in your eating habits, you should find out where calorie traps lurk. Maybe it’s enough to replace snacks and soda with healthy alternatives. Tip: Keep a food diary or use an app for your smartphone.

Mediterranean cuisine serves as a model for a balanced and tasty diet. There should be three plant portions on the menu every day, consisting of cooked vegetables, raw vegetables or salad. Meat consumption should also be reduced. Tip: if you feel hungry, snack on a handful of unsalted nuts.

Around three hours of exercise per week

If you want to support the weight loss effect, you should get going: jogging, swimming, soccer or yoga – it doesn’t matter which sport you choose – the main thing is exercise. This has a double effect: the activity uses more energy. Muscle mass is also built up, and muscles burn more calories than soft fat tissue. The goal should be around three hours of exercise per week or half an hour of activity every day – everyday movements also count. If you are very overweight or have joint problems, you should seek medical advice. Activities that are gentle on the joints include aqua aerobics, swimming or training on the ergometer, reports the “HausArzt-PatientMagazin”.

Anyone who joins sports groups, finds training partners or chooses a team sport finds it easier to stay on track. Fixed appointments and appointments are not as easy to overturn as a lonely run around the block. Once a few kilos of fat have disappeared and muscles have been built up, exercise becomes easier and easier. With a fitter body, the desire for an active life usually increases automatically.
