The Order: “From Monday we could start, give us the drug.” In Treviso theoretical lessons and “training” on injections
TREVISO. “Ready to vaccinate from Monday, but give us the drug to be able to do it.” The appeal addressed to Ulss 2 and the Region comes from the Treviso Pharmacists’ Order which today will complete the training of 240 pharmacists of the Marca who thus become officially recognized “vaccinating pharmacists”. The training, developed in collaboration with the Order of Nursing Professions (Opi) of the capital, and self-financed by the pharmacists themselves, enabled the workers of the green crosses to administer prophylaxis.
THE TRAINING
“We are proud to have accelerated practical training, initially in charge of Ulss 2, which was going slowly” comments the president of the Order of Pharmacists Giuseppe Losego who yesterday attended the working groups at the headquarters of the institution in via Cortese. About thirty participants per hour, supported by Opi tutors, carried out the injection tests on a mannequin or on a “protected” surface.
Which vaccine?
“The health company has not shown particular signs, it seems they want to start with new hubs to prepare pharmacists, but in the case of the province of Treviso, the vast majority of professionals will complete the process to become a vaccinator this weekend” continues the Dr. Losego. In addition to the guidelines on the type of product that will be supplied to pharmacies (probably AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, both intended for over 60s, and Moderna for the population under 60), the telematic platform for recording vaccinations in pharmacies is also to be defined.
“We are waiting for the Ulss and the Region to finalize the channel” adds Losego, “after which the administration will take place in the pharmacy, with registration of the health card, compilation of consent and anamnesis”.
Services on the territory
Thanks to the new “vaccination diploma”, the commitment of pharmacies, as service providers in the area, will increase. “We will be at the forefront of supporting the health service in the last part of this first round of vaccination, as well as for the third dose of the anti-Covid vaccine, hypothesized for after the summer. But we will also be able to contribute to flu prophylaxis in the autumn, ”Losego underlines.

Samanta Grossi, president of the Treviso OPI of the same opinion: «Our entire board of directors has adhered with conviction to the request of the Order. We joined forces with foresight, preceding the protocol signed at national level by our federations ». After the training conducted by the Higher Institute of Health, the 240 pharmacist-trainees from Treviso, flanked by nurses, first participated in a video lesson and then in the practical test to carry out the injection.
Vaccinands in the pharmacy
Who will be able to get vaccinated at the pharmacy? The subjects that from the anamnestic form will be free of pathologies and contraindications. To participate it will be sufficient to book at the pharmacy with the health card and, after filling out the form, to show up for the administration of the vaccine. After the second dose, the pharmacy will issue the patient with the “green pass” documentation of the successful immunization.
