I Carabinieri of the NAS of Taranto have intensified inspection activities also with the collaboration of the staff of the Prevention Department of the ASL of Brindisi for the prevention of food-related crimes in the province. In particular, they found serious sanitary and structural deficiencies in two bakeries which led to the immediate suspension of activities.

During one of the checks, over 1,200 liters of oil were discovered without traceability indications which were then administratively seized and the owner, reported to the competent health and administrative authorities, was fined 2,500 euros.

In two other provinces in the Brindisi area, during inspections conducted, in some cases, also with the Carabinieri of the Territorial Army and the NIL, the NAS soldiers proceeded with the disposal of a food warehouse serving a public establishment due to serious health deficiencies and structural and the destruction of approximately 80 kilos of food that did not comply with the procedures set out in the HACCP manual and was partly kept with an expired expiry date.
