Forestry Engineer Turns Passion for Medicinal Mushrooms into Successful Business
Raúl Fraile, a forestry engineer and manager of MundoReishi, a natural medicine store in the province’s capital, has turned his passion for mycology into a successful business. Specializing in medicinal mushrooms, MundoReishi offers a range of natural medicine products as well as naturopathy and phytotherapy consultations.
Fraile’s extensive training in mycology, medicine, and phytotherapy has equipped him with a deep understanding of the healing properties of medicinal mushrooms. “Medicinal mushrooms are quite unknown, but they have a very strong activity in some aspects in which traditional medicine is not so powerful,” says Fraile. He emphasizes the special impact of these plants on improving the immune system, making them useful for treating a variety of conditions from a simple cold to the flu.
One of the key medicinal mushrooms highlighted by Fraile is the reishi, also known as the pipe mushroom, which grows in the forests of the province. This plant has been used for thousands of years and has been the subject of over 2,000 medical publications, endorsing its healing properties and its ability to improve defense systems. MundoReishi also offers a range of edible species with beneficial activity within the human organism, addressing various health issues such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
In addition to his work at MundoReishi, Fraile is an honorary member of the Quercus Mycological Association, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with almost 50 active members. The association hosts weekly gatherings to share mycological experiences and knowledge, as well as organize workshops and conferences to educate the public about the world of medicinal mushrooms.
Furthermore, Fraile organizes workshops at MundoReishi and shares his expertise through his YouTube channel, where he has amassed over 10,000 subscribers. “Here I give small courses on medicinal plants and mushrooms so that people know how to use these products to help them treat diseases. As a phytotherapist, I see that many people turn to traditional medicine without knowing that there are equivalents in plant medicine that work just as well,” he explains.
