Prato, 11 October 2021 – They were inaugurated this morning in via Florence the two areas with inclusive games, accessible even for children with different abilities, and tools for the fitness, which can also be used for wheelchair users, as part of the Riversibility project. Present were the mayor Matteo Biffoni, the city planning councilor Valerio Barberis, the director of the works Chiara Melani, the manager of the Francesco Caporaso Service, Alessio Banchelli of the Banchelli company who carried out the work and the representatives of Consiag Servizi who installed the benches and the bicycle racks and the green area.
The works, which lasted about 4 months, led to the construction of the two pitches with a fall-damping floor, games, fences, benches, bicycle racks, fitness equipment and also the new parapet behind the small square for exercise equipment, because the old wall of protection of the Bisenzio river bank at that point had no foundations and was collapsing.
The two pitches are equipped with video surveillance. “The River Park is enriched with new functions and activities – says Councilor Barberis – Here initially two containers were planned and on input from the residents who made this request we instead decided to create the playground and fitness area, going in the direction indicated by them. We receive several proposals for similar interventions, reflecting the interest that the Riversibility project arouses and achieving one of the main objectives, that is to stimulate the adoption of a healthy lifestyle in the open air “.
In all, the intervention involved an investment of 140 thousand euros. This is the sixth sports area within Riversibility and the first playground of the project. The next step is the opening of the two containers for street food at Ponte Petrino, already installed, two connected to the Serraglio playground and three to the Cantiere as a place for associations and aggregation.
