A few days ago, an evaluation by “Spiegel” showed that violent crimes in hospitals have increased by 20 percent across Germany since 2019. In some federal states such as Berlin they have even doubled. In 2022, 6,894 crimes were reported in Germany, and there are likely to be a large number of unreported cases.

Respect for doctors and nursing staff seems to be steadily decreasing. What is it like to work under these conditions and how do those affected help each other? Four people who have experienced aggression and violence themselves report.
