Diet against the gastroesophageal reflux: what and how to eat to get better. We often hear about gastroesophageal reflux and according to some recent estimates 10-20% of the population in Europe would suffer from it. Although it is a physiological reflex, it can take on the characteristics of a pathology and should not be underestimated. Heartburn, bad breath, acid regurgitation, excessive salivation, are the classic alarm bells of reflux. The causes that can ‘trigger’ it are different: from an anatomical question to a hormonal, alimentary and pharmacological one. However, besides medical therapies, it is possible to follow a diet against reflux; in fact there are foods that should be avoided, while others are to be introduced into our diet.
