Vanessa Ferrari retraces the joy of the silver medal won at the Tokyo Olympics in the free body in the living room of Verissimo, a guest in the episode on Saturday 16 October: “I finally did it, after many sacrifices this medal arrived – she says – It was my fourth Olympics and in the other three I always touched the podium. It was wonderful to conquer it even if I experienced the most intense moment when I returned home to Milan. Before, I had not yet realized what I had done ”.
To Silvia Toffanin who asks her how much pressure she had before the final, the gymnast tells the state of mind she felt in those moments: “I had a lot of pain in my tendons, but this shouldn’t have been an obstacle. I had a great career, but deep down I felt the lack of an Olympic medal. Winning it after so much pain and many disappointments has satisfied me ”.
Passion for sport
For Vanessa Ferrari, this sport was love at first sight. And the second Olympic place he experienced almost like a liberation, after years of sacrifices: “I started training every day in Brescia when I was 8 years old. My mom used to drive 200 kilometers each time to accompany me. I lived in the gym, it wasn’t an adolescence like any other, it was difficult but it was worth it ”.
Finally, when asked about her future and the possibility of a fifth Olympics, Vanessa Ferrari concludes: “Since this Tokyo Olympics has been postponed by a year, the next one is closer. If I were to feel good physically and no longer feel pain by jumping I would not rule out the possibility of trying again ”.
