Dr Automobiles is an Italian company that saw the light in 2006 in Macchia d’Isernia, thanks to the Italian entrepreneur and pilot Massimo Di Risio. The company produces vehicles by assembling components produced by Chinese automakers under license. Initially, Dr vehicles were sold through a network of supermarkets and hypermarkets, but later the company developed its own network of authorized dealers and workshops. Let us now focus our attention on some specific aspects, namely:

Dr 1.0

Dr 1.0 on size similar to one Smart or of one Renault Twingo E-Tech, is a compatible small car with a three-door configuration and four seats, two of which are ergonomically comfortable and a small luggage compartment. The seat upholstery is in fabric and the dashboard features a 9.7-inch display with a metal type insert. The vehicle’s performance is adequate for urban use, thanks to the 31 kWh battery with limited autonomy outside the city, which requires at least 50 minutes to be charged to 80%.

The vehicle is equipped with un solo optional, or rather the decorative stickers, while the standard equipment is complete, with the exception of the advanced safety devices, since it has only two airbags. According to the declared technical specifications, the vehicle is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 120 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in 5 seconds and from 0 to 100 km/h in 17 seconds. The declared range of the 31 kWh battery is 210 kilometers in the WLTP combined cycle and 294 kilometers in the WLTP urban cycle. The sale price is 25,000 euros.

Dr 6.0

Dr 6.0 is a medium-sized crossover with a harmonious and modern design that recalls models such as Ssangyong Korando e Hyundai Tucson. The car features a large hexagonal grille, typical of the most recent cars produced by the Molise-based car manufacturer, and thin horizontally-developed headlights. The side is characterized by a dynamic profile and three windows that connect to the rear window thanks to the use of a black insert, while the taillights are joined by a light strip. The cabin is spacious and equipped with digital instrumentation and a 12.5-inch central screen for the multimedia system, equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but with all writing in English.

The standard equipment is complete and includes the glass sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control with touch controls, wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry system, motorized tailgate, electrically adjustable seats, 360-degree camera and 19-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle is propelled by an electrified internal combustion engine with a maximum power of 100 kW and a maximum torque of 260 Nm. According to the declared technical specifications, the vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 165 km/h. The declared range of the 64 kWh battery is 450 km in the WLTP combined cycle and 550 km in the WLTP urban cycle. The sale price is 29,000 euros.

Dr 5.0

Ready to face established models like Nissan Juke e Renault CapturDr 5.0 is a crossover that presents significant changes in the aesthetic design, such as the front bumper with a more aggressive design, the enlarged grille, the LED headlights and a modernized dashboard equipped with a 12.3-inch central screen and compatibility with Android Car. This model is only available with front-wheel drive and boasts an interesting standard equipment at a competitive price, even if the additional cost compared to the Dr 4.0 model must be taken into account.

The motorization of the Dr 5.0 it consists of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, which is available both with and without a turbocharger. The turbo version is mated to an automatic transmission with CVT ratio continuously variable, while the naturally aspirated one only with a five-speed manual gearbox. The starting price is 21,000 euros.

Dr 4.0

Dr 4.0 is a front-wheel drive B-segment crossover. Its attractive design features sculpted fenders and a commanding front end, with a modest price for its performance. The cabin of the crossover that competes with Citroen C3 Aircross e Peugeot 2008offers a sober and welcoming atmosphere, with 7-inch digital instrumentation and a multimedia system compatible with Android and Apple operating systems.

The trunk capacity is decent, while the engine range it consists of two petrol units, both also available with LPG fuelling: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine combined with a manual gearbox and a 154 HP turbo engine with automatic gearbox. The declared consumption is high, but this is balanced by an affordable purchase price. However, state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, such as automatic emergency braking, are missing. The basic price of Dr 4.0 is 19,000 euros.

Dr 3.0

Dr 3.0, alternative a Kia Stonic e Dacia Duster, is a compact crossover featuring a sporty design and fitted with 17-inch wheels. The cabin is spacious but uses inexpensive materials, however, the carbon fiber-like central dashboard gives a touch of robustness. The multimedia system has a slightly lower central 9-inch screen, supports Apple CarPlay and allows screen mirroring.

The trunk, while unobtrusive, has an irregular shape. In terms of equipment, the car has defrost mirrors, a reversing camera and an electrically operated sunroof included in the price, but does not have steering wheel depth adjustment or driving assistance devices and has only two front airbags. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 106PS, but is slow at low revs. Alternatively, a bi-fuel LPG version is available. The starting price of this vehicle is 18,000 euros.
