Another confirmation on zero calorie sweeteners. And it is always a negative confirmation. In the dock, the sucralosio, a substance present in light foods and drinks thanks to its very high sweetening power (600 times more than sugar) and zero calories. A feature that however reserves serious risks for our health, given that it could damage the DNA and cause leaky gut. This conclusion was reached by a team of American researchers led by scientists from the Joint Departments of Biomedical Engineering of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University, who collaborated with colleagues from the Department of Genetics and Biology Society and Sciome LLC of Durham. The results were published in the scientific journal Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health.
