The newspaper The Times of Israel writes that twelve soldiers were stabbed in the incident in the south of the Gaza Strip on Friday. Ten victims were admitted to a hospital in Tel Aviv. No one is in mortal danger.

According to the hospital, some soldiers were stung by hundreds of wasps and suffered allergic reactions. “The injured were cared for by ophthalmologists, toxicologists, anesthetists and specialists from our intensive care unit,” it said in a statement.

Israeli forces remain present in eastern Rafah, in the south of the occupied Gaza Strip, and say they have located several tunnel entrances. The nearby border crossing with Egypt has been captured by the Israeli armed forces and aid supplies are no longer coming in. According to the army, “several terrorist cells were eliminated” during fighting at the border crossing. In addition, the Israeli air force bombed various targets in the region.

Since the Israeli army invaded Rafah, around 110,000 people are said to have fled the crowded coastal city in search of safer shelter, according to United Nations figures.
