A cat that was still in the smoke-filled apartment was quickly helped. She was brought outside to her owners. The residents, a mother and her daughter, got to safety in time. The two were looked after by the rescue team and taken to hospital for a check-up.
The fire brigade checked the area using a thermal imaging camera before the operation was ended after a good two hours. The police have opened an investigation into the cause of fire.
