NTSB and FAA Investigate United Airlines Plane Skidding Incident at George Bush Airport

In a concerning event at George Bush International Airport in Houston, Texas, a United Airlines plane veered off course and onto the grass on Friday morning. Flight 2477, operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8, was carrying 160 passengers and six crew members. Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the incident.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched investigations to determine the cause of the plane skidding off the runway. Witnesses at the scene captured videos of the aircraft leaning to one side with one of its wings dangerously close to the ground.

United Airlines has expressed its cooperation with the authorities and stated, “We will work with the NTSB, FAA, and Boeing to understand what happened.” Passenger Mike Allard, a pastor from New Caney, Texas, described hearing a loud bang upon landing before the plane tilted unexpectedly.

Despite the unsettling incident, operations at George Bush International Airport continued without interruption. United Airlines commended its crew for safely disembarking all passengers and initiating efforts to reunite passengers with their belongings promptly.

This incident comes on the heels of another recent event involving United Airlines when a flight from Houston to Fort Myers, Florida, had to return for an emergency landing due to an engine problem. Flames were seen coming from one of the engines, prompting a crew member to reassure passengers through the public address system.

These occurrences underscore the importance of safety procedures and maintenance practices in commercial aviation. United Airlines reiterated its commitment to passenger and crew safety and pledged to collaborate with authorities to investigate both incidents thoroughly.
