China-Laos Railway Becomes Preferred Travel Option During Water Splashing Festival
The China-Laos Railway has become the preferred way for travelers to journey between the two countries during the Water Splashing Festival. This was evident on April 13 when the first China-Laos Railway Xishuangbanna-Luang Prabang international passenger train departed from Xishuangbanna Station.
Passenger Chen Cheng and his family of seven were among the travelers on the latest international passenger train. Chen Cheng, who currently resides in Xishuangbanna, expressed his excitement to visit Laos and experience the exotic water-splashing carnival in Luang Prabang.
The China-Laos Railway has gained popularity among Chinese and foreign tourists for its beautiful scenery, unique ethnic customs, and delicious foods. Since its opening on April 13, 2023, the international passenger train has provided an economical, convenient, and comfortable travel option.
To further improve cross-border travel convenience, the railway departments of China and Laos will implement a new train operation chart starting July 25, 2023. The running time of the Kunming South to Vientiane international passenger train will be reduced to about 9 and a half hours, with additional stops added along the route.
The China-Laos Railway has played a significant role in promoting tourism in Laos, allowing travelers to explore beyond the main cities. Kang Pi Nong, a Lao international student studying tourism at Kunming University, plans to utilize the railway to expand his tour guide business in tourist cities along the route after graduation.
With the China-Laos Railway connecting these two countries, travelers like Chen Cheng and Kang Pi Nong can easily navigate between China and Laos during festivals and celebrations, enhancing cultural exchanges and tourism opportunities for both nations.
