The Acqui Terme Unified Power Plant – which also includes Acqui Terme among its municipalities – announced, on behalf of the latter, a design competition aimed at construction of a school complex for the 0 – 6 age group (replacing the existing one to be demolished) while also serving as an educational resource center for the community.
The competition, included in a series of actions undertaken by the municipal administration to redevelop various important areas, finds space in a residential expansion area of the second half of the 1900s, part of a school sector that today includes 5 institutes located beyond the stretch of railway that encircles the urban center to the west and connects it, towards the north, with the city of Asti.
The school center, with an innovative character, he will have to overcome the practice which sees childhood divided into two phases: the first supported by the nursery school system, the second by that of the schools, imagining the pre-school age as a single period, which contains a great evolution.
The structure will also have to become place of social aggregation and to encourage the participation of families in the educational experience of the childrenthe construction of community ties, constituting an important point of reference and support for dealing with the parenting experience.
The planning intervention will have to be guided by some cornerstones of pedagogysuch as the division into areas that have a specific educational and emotional value, the attention to the shape of the spaces, the materials and colors, the creation of private spaces, capable of encouraging secluded play, etc.
Specifically, the structure must contain 3 nursery sections to accommodate 10/12 children per section divided by age group: 0-1 year section, 1-2 year section, 2-3 year section. It will be completed with 8 sections for children covering the 3-6 age range and welcoming 18 to 25 children per section.
In addition to the typical services of school campuses (canteen, toilets, etc.), the school must provide laboratory spaces suitable for hosting adults and children as well. Similarly, the garden will be a space for everyone to explore.
The estimated cost for the construction of the work (including safety charges) is 2.787.200 euro.
COMPETITION PROCEDURE
The competition will take place, free of charge and anonymously, exclusively electronically on the appalti-acquese.maggiolicloud.it platform and is divided into two stages:
the first stage – elaboration of ideas – is aimed at selection FOUR creative proposalsto be admitted to the second degree. the second level – project elaboration – is aimed at identifying the best project among those presented by the admitted competitors. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED – 1st DEGREE
illustrative report (max 2 facades) to highlight the concepts expressed graphically, with particular reference to the evaluation criteria indicated, with a description of the functional and spatial organization aspects of the project proposal and the preliminary evaluations of the economic coherence of the cost of the intervention with respect to the amount foreseen for the total cost of the works;
2 A2 boards containing the concept of the project proposal, in the form and with the technique chosen by the competitor, which can narrate and make the idea to be developed in the 2nd degree fully understood.
