The Democratic Party will almost certainly be the tip of the balance for the center-left candidates in the next administrative offices of Savigliano, but the two (for now) aspiring area mayors have decided to start from a “civic” basis. On the one hand, Giulio Ambroggio, mayor in office, who has already announced for some time his will to run for a second term. Representative of the Democratic Party, however, he finds himself struggling with the party’s reluctance to grant support. Ambroggio, with the support of his civic list “Our Savigliano”, would be ready to present himself alone, but is pressing for the Democratic Party to indicate the primaries.
There had been rumors of Gianfranco Saglione’s descent into the field for some time. The president of the non-profit organization Oasi Giovani, former councilor for culture in Sergio Soave’s councils, announced that he had decided to “make himself available” after the requests of two civic lists. These are «Commitment to Savigliano» and «Savigliano tomorrow», the latter born a few months ago on the initiative of the association of the Common Good school of politics, coordinated by Giampiero Piola. Piola, however, is also the citizen coordinator of the Democratic Party, and this situation supports the hypothesis of support from the same party in Saglione. The meetings of the top Democrats in the coming days will be decisive.
Certainly Saglione’s self-nomination, although esteemed by many for his work, was not appreciated by some leftists; Ambroggio himself does not send them to say: «I take note of his descent into the field, which is practically certain already this summer. He presents himself as civic, on the other hand he had said on several occasions that he was against party symbols, now I hope he will keep this decision. For consistency he should also resign as president of Oasi Giovani – concludes Ambroggio -, because, even if there is no legal incompatibility, there is an ethics: Oasi Giovani belongs to all Saviglianesi, he has made a choice of field “.
If the skein is tangled on the left, it won’t be easy to unravel on the right either. However, Marco Buttieri, president of the Saviglianese circle of Brothers of Italy, already twice a candidate for mayor in the past and current member of the national council of the ATC casa, looks to the future with confidence: “In small towns it is the people who make the difference, not party symbols. We are working constructively with the other center-right forces. The name of the candidate will emerge shortly, now a pact on design is important ». Buttieri, referring to the center-left, underlines: “Whoever is in charge now has shown that they have no planning vision, I hope Saglione will keep his vision, which is civic, without masking parties within his coalition.” In short, an opportunity could arise for the center-right, in a city governed by the center-left for 25 years. –
