Agropoli, archaeological finds in the headquarters of a non-profit organization; recovered from the Gdf – breaking latest news

AGROPOLI – In recent weeks, the Financiers of the Provincial Command of Salerno have proceeded to the seizure of numerous archaeological finds, illegally detained by the president of a non-profit organization in Cilento. The Yellow Flames of the Vallo della Lucania Tenenza, engaged in Agropoli in an activity delegated by the Vallo della Lucania Public Prosecutor’s Office, found the precious objects at the headquarters of the association, subjected to a different kind of control.

The military, sensing that it could be artifacts of historical interest and noted the total absence of the documentation useful to certify their origin, therefore immediately protected them and made them available to this Judicial Authority. The subsequent appraisal, carried out by staff of the Archaeological Superintendence, Fine Arts and Landscapes of Salerno and Avellino, finally confirmed the authenticity of the objects, in total 34, all made in Magna Graecia and chronologically framed between the IV and III centuries BC.

Among them, the most valuable are some coins, the face of the statuette of a Greek divinity and three small amphorae, as well as miniature and ointment vases which, taken together, lead to believe the ancient location in a place of worship. It is the umpteenth confirmation of the bankruptcy action ensured by the Guardia di Finanza, also in the safeguarding of the historical, artistic and archaeological heritage of the country.
