Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Russian Belgorod region, said that on Wednesday, air defense units shot down 16 airborne targets across the region in southern Russia, and there were no reports of human casualties on the ground.
Gladkov said on the Telegram app that the attacks smashed windows and caused other damage to a few locations in the city, including two schools and four educational institutions.
It also caused damage to property in areas outside the city.
Pictures posted on social media showed a car on fire and a fire in a yard.
In the past few weeks, Ukraine has launched regular air attacks on Belgorod and two nearby Russian regions, Bryansk and Voronezh. Belgorod also witnessed ground incursions.
