Like the city of Ifrane and all the other cities of the Kingdom, the Pearl of the Middle Atlas Azrou also celebrated the Amazigh new year “Yd’Ennayer 2974” with joy and popular rejoicing on Saturday January 13 2024.
Indeed, the Urban Council of the city of Azrou in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Council of Ifrane and the Habri Association for Amazigh heritage at the Azrou Cultural Center commemorated this national event by organizing several entertainment activities cultural and tourist attractions in particular at the Azrou cultural center where a tasting of Couscous with milk and seven vegetables prepared for the occasion took place with a visit to the Middle Atlas Heritage Interpretation Center stronghold of the Imazighenes and to the open-air theater Akachmir tune animated by troops of Ahidouss and Inachaden.
In a statement to MAP; Naoual Oulkadi Member of the Azrou urban council, president of the information commission, underlined that all components of Azrioui society are today proud to celebrate this Amazigh new year 2974 decided by the supreme guide of the nation HM King Mohammed VI as a national holiday by adopting the Amazigh New Year as a public holiday.
On this occasion, she added, the urban council of the city of Azrou and its partners decided to highlight all the Amazigh expressions and traditions of the city and its region by organizing several activities including artistic and craft exhibitions, a tasting of Amazigh dishes specially prepared to celebrate this Amazigh New Year and outdoor folklore evenings.
For his part, Zouheir Bouchiba Director of the Azrou cultural center clarified that the latter participated in this event by organizing a ceremony aimed at promoting heritage and celebrating Amazigh culture by highlighting traditional clothing in particular. , the art of Ahidouss and all the socio-cultural specificities.
According to Zouheir Bouchiba, the Middle Atlas Heritage Interpretation Center (CIP) is a cultural, scientific and educational institution whose main purpose is to make the cultural heritage of the area and its riches known to a wide audience. natural. It also aims to raise people’s awareness of their value, the degree of their fragility and the dangers that threaten them.
This Center was created as part of a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Culture and local authorities including the former Meknes-Tafilalet Region, the Ifrane Provincial Council and the Azrou Municipality Council. He came to fill the void in terms of cultural institutions in this vast region, well known for its great cultural and natural potential. It has three pavilions, one of which is reserved for natural heritage, the second for intangible heritage, especially Amazigh, and the last for archaeological and historical heritage.
