The Mayor of Maturín, Ana Fuentes announced at a press conference, this Saturday, January 20, the schedule of activities for the celebration of La Fiesta Grande de Oriente, the Maturín Carnivals 2024.
During four days of the parade, public spaces suitable for the Carnival season will be guaranteed to locals and visitors, as well as security, transportation, field hospitals and portable toilets along the entire route.
The municipal manager was accompanied by the President of the Carnival Board, Andrés Silva, the Secretary of Prevention and Citizen Security of the Monagas state, Eduardo Almérida, the Director of the Maturín Municipal Police, Pérez Luis and other members of the Board.
Route
The municipal authority reported that this year the route of the troupes and floats was modified, with the “Rómulo Betancourt” Industrial Technical School as its starting point and the Juanico Farmatodo as its final point.
Programming
On Saturday, February 10, the carnival begins with the school parade at three in the afternoon. While at 7:30 pm in the Acoustic Shell of the Sports Center, the election of the 2024 Carnival Queen will be held.
On Sunday the 11th, is the adult parade that begins at 2:00 pm, while at 8:00 pm is the concert at the Concha Acústica.
On Monday the 12th, the parade is at 2:00 pm and the concert at the Concha Acústica, at eight at night.
And for the closing of La Fiesta Grande de Oriente, which is on Tuesday, February 13, the parade will be at two in the afternoon, and the farewell concert at eight at night.
Stake
Another aspect referred to by the Mayor is the participation of educational institutions and communities.
In this regard, he said that this year communal participation is expanded, which vindicates the tradition of these festivities, which many years ago concentrated the Maturinese family on Bolívar Avenue.
Likewise, he expressed that in 2023 at least 150 thousand people attended the Maturín Carnival, while this year they hope to exceed this number of people in the Municipality.
