The Nationalist Republican Alliance party (Arena) expelled the former 2024 presidential candidate, Joel Sánchez, from its ranks this Friday due to public statements made by him to the detriment of the image of the political institute.

Through a statement, the tricolor points out that the party “is committed to a transformation process based on the transparency, ethics and loyalty that its leaders and elected public officials must assume,” which is why the decision had been made to expel Sánchez.

For his part, the president of Coena, Carlos Saade, said through a video published on social networks that the Court of First Instance has been requested to open an expulsion process against him, “for his repeated, unfounded and public demonstrations detrimental to the image of the party.

“The commitment to transformation that we are assuming is with the ethics, transparency and loyalty with which the leading members and public officials elected under our flag must conduct themselves,” said Saade.

The official statement also states that an expulsion process will begin for all members who have held public or elected positions who have been convicted in courts of law for crimes of corruption or other crimes.

Likewise, the rights to be elected to internal or popularly elected positions will be suspended and disqualified for all members who have open judicial processes.

In the document that circulated on social networks, it is stated that “ARENA and its disciplinary bodies will continue to be vigilant against events that violate their regulations and statutes.”

Sánchez joined the presidential formula with Hilcia Damaris Bonilla.
