In 26 clinical specializations, during 2023 a total of seven thousand 635 surgeries were performed in the operating rooms of the “Dr. Manuel Núñez Tovar” (HUMNT) Maturinsurpassing by two thousand 413 the five thousand 222 interventions in 2022.

This was reported this Friday, January 5, by the director of the main health provider in the state of Monagas, Juan Carlos Gómez, while highlighting that the largest number of surgical procedures were concentrated in the specialties of Gynecology, Traumatology, Urology, Pediatric Surgery and Oncology.
“To improve the health conditions of people who require surgical interventions, medical professionals carried out these clinical procedures, contemplated in the public health policies implemented by President Nicolás Maduro, through the Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, and which in Monagas is supported by Governor Ernesto Luna,” he explained.
Gómez highlighted that in the six surgical pavilions of the HUMNT, a total of 2,938 patients who were admitted due to hospital emergencies were operated on; while another 4,497 were for elective procedures according to the pathologies they presented.
Active outpatient consultations in the hospital
Likewise, Gómez said that they plan to begin this Monday, January 8, medical check-ups in 54 specializations through outpatient clinics, popularly known as Las Casitas.
“We are prepared to begin clinical care in all our specializations, with only Physiotherapy, Child Psychiatry and Pneumonology consultations deferred due to major causes that we are evaluating to gradually activate them,” he said.
Adaptations
Likewise, the health professional highlighted that several offices were involved with paint application, general sanitation, and repairs to air conditioners and electrical systems.
“One of the last offices reconditioned was the Urology office and we are currently deeply cleaning up the pediatric and adult emergency hospitalization services,” he said.
In 26 clinical specializations they perform surgical procedures at the Núñez Tovar hospital. This Monday, January 8, care begins in the Outpatient Service of the Maturín Central Hospital. Hospital maintenance personnel apply deep sanitation to hospitalizations in Adult and Pediatric emergencies.
